I'm looking to max out my hsa this year, but my hsa doesn't actually have a total stock index fund. I'd like to get as close as possible to a total stock market index fund like vtsax, from the following list, and i'm wondering if you could help. My hsa offers the following funds: You're missing that the shares prices are different between these funds. Vtsax shares are ~3x the cost of vhyax shares. You can't just compare the absolute dividend payment per share. You need to look at dividend yield as a percentage of the share price. Look at the 30 day sec yield. Vanguard lists this for each fund. For vtsax it is currently.

Someone help me here. lets say i max out a 403b for my wife in vtsax, a simple ira in vtsax and roth ira's in vtsax, then i invest in a taxable account in vtsax as well. Lets say i decide to pull some money out of the taxable account for whatever purchase i decide to make, wouldn't that be a wash sale and i'd get penalized for it? The point of vtsax is to mimic the total us stock market. So whatever happens to be going on in the larger market is what you'll find happening in the fund. Right now aapl, msft, amzn, fb, goog, nvda, and tsla are major companies, but will they still be in ten years? If not, which companies will be big in ten years? Since we can't know, we.

I'm curious if the rest of the fire community has considered/switched over to qqq/nasdaq tech heavy etfs. Yes, they're more volatile, but as a buy and hold investor, i love buying the dip and believe tech, social media, nvidia, apple, google, and human's addiction to gadgets (and addiction to taking on debt) is going to make tech thrive. I've been buying vtsax whenever we had additional funds left after funding our tax deferred accounts, when i tried to buy $1,000 worth today it goes all the way through the buy process and then returns we cannot process your order because shares for this fund are only available to institutional customers. I’m looking to move my 403b at work through fidelity into something similar to vtsax. The only work options including vftsx, vffsx, vmspx, vscpx or famlx.
Vtsax is not one of the available options. Are any of the others comparable? I'm having a hard time, however, choosing between vanguard and betterment, and between vtsax, vtsmx, and vti. I'm thinking i'll dump 100k into one for starters and keep the rest for other investments or purchases (in case i get married or have kids). If you wish to buy vtsax, opening your brokerage account at vanguard is probably best as vtsax is run by vanguard and will therefore always trade in vanguard brokerage accounts without added fees. Fidelity, scwhab, etrade, and td ameritrade would also be fine options as they have similar investment options that trade without extra fees, but.
